Follow me on Facebook I suck at blogging. I'm a man of few words and I feel like blog posts require a bunch of words in order to justify making a post.

I started a Facebook page and I think I will be making updates much more often. I like to post little blurbs and tidbits so if you're interested, do a Facebook search for 'Whaat's up' and you'll find me.

I'll keep this blog page for now but probably not make any more posts.

SDS2 Update

Work continues (albeit slowly) on SDS2. Pretty much all the major features have been coded. Now, it's the very un-fun nitty gritty UI, (internal) testing and optimization stuff. There's a couple of more complex features I'd like to add but they might have to wait until SDS3. I'm just not finding enough time to work on this stuff and I definitely want to release the next version this year.

Why is it taking so long? Well, this will be a MAJOR release. Heck, I might even purchase some ad space somewhere. Features, features, features....there will be many new ones. Almost every previous feature will be improved in some aspect but I am most excited about the new features. I hope they will take your SketchUp modelling to a whole new level.

Well, I suppose I'll release a tiny bit of info here:
  • Upgrade pricing will be available for those who purchased SDS
  • Vertex editing and SDS of selected faces will be in the next version

That's all for now! Stay tuned...

What I'm working on...SDS2!

Sorry, no major reveals, here. Just thought I'd mention that I've been full-out on SDS2 lately. Things are looking very nice....I'm really looking forward to revealing some of the features. I'm not sure when the timing is right. My schedule this year will be so unpredictable. I'm busy with selling our current home, building a new home, and keeping on top of things with SkIndigo development as well. I also want to start a new business this year, too. So, release dates are impossible to predict.

I did some research today into Doo-Sabin subdivision methods but I'm not sure if it's worth implementing yet. I would consider it pretty low on the priority list. Who knows, though?

Happy 2010 everyone! (a little late I guess)

New SkIndigo Beta 2.2.9

We're getting close to 2.2 stable! SkIndigo 2.2.9 contains a lot of important bug fixes and adds support for the new Absorption Layer Transmittance parameter (A.K.A. Surface Color). This feature can be used for accurate simulation of things like true stained glass windows, projector film, and skin blemishes. It is used in 'Specular' or 'Glossy Transparent' material types.

New Beta of UVTools

I recently released a new beta version of UVTools (0.2 Pro beta). It allows you to send SketchUP faces to an external UV mapping application and then import the UVs once you have finished your UV mapping. Read more about it here at SCF.

Watch a video of the plugin in action.

Indigo Artwork Stinkie Style

'Stinkie', a long-time Indigo/SkIndigo user has been posting a series of artwork in his trademark style on the Indigo forums. He uses SketchUp to compose the scene and SkIndigo to export the scene to Indigo for rendering. He is able to create unique moods and images unlike anything you may have seen before.

Messing with SkIndigo UI

Just playing around with the SkIndigo UI to make it a bit nicer.
